About us
The UTS China Research Centre was formed in 2007 with funding from the UTS Research Strengths initiative.
In 2008 the Centre received a further $A 10 million from the UTS Council as part of the university’s Research Investment Strategy.
This support recognised the extensive success in research and research training on China that had developed in UTS under the auspices of the China Research Group, then housed within the Institute of International Studies.
Since July 2008 the Centre has been located within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences but it also includes in its membership academics from other UTS faculties: such as Law, Engineering and IT, Business and the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine within the Faculty of Science.
Centre members have come from around the world to join UTS. Researchers variously come from Mexico, Italy, Singapore, Germany, UK, USA, China and New Zealand. They bring their myriad multi-lingual skills and international networks to inform their China research.
The Centre is honoured to benefit from the advice of an eminent group of international scholars on its Advisory Board. We have also formed strategic partnerships with leading China research centres around the world, and welcome associate members from other universities as regular participants in Centre projects.
